How Do Dedicated Web Hosting Servers Work?

When we talk about web hosting servers, there are three principal types - shared website hosting servers, VPS (virtual hosting servers) and dedicated web hosting servers. Shared hosting servers host lots of customers and hence the system resources per hosting account are limited, virtual private server accounts offer more configuration independence, but also affect other virtual private hosting servers on the hardware node if used rashly, and dedicated servers offer you the possibility to do everything you desire without intervening with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated web hosting server?

Dedicated servers are commonly much more high-priced than shared hosting web servers or virtual private hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The explanation is very simple. If your firm has a high resource-requiring web site, or just has very exact web server configuration requirements, the most logical choice would be a dedicated server. For somebody who is prepared to invest in safety and dependability, the bigger price is of no concern. You are given full root-level access and can use 100% of the dedicated hosting server's resources without anyone else utilizing these system resources and messing with your online portals.

Hardware architectures

The majority of shared web hosting suppliers, including us at Transforma Hosting, offer different hardware configurations you can choose from in keeping with your demands. The configurations include different kinds of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and server disk drive sizes and different traffic allowances. You can choose a Control Panel, which is a handy interface if you would like to use the dedicated hosting server for hosting purposes only and choose not to resort to SSH for all the modifications you will be making. We offer three sorts of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The Control Panel of your preference

If you are a confident Linux OS user (our dedicated servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could administer your dedicated server through a Secure Shell console only. That, though, could be inconvenient, even more so if you wish to grant root privileges to someone else who has less technical expertise than yourself. This is why having hosting Control Panel software installed is an intelligent idea. The Hepsia hosting CP GUI that we provide does not include full root-level access and is chiefly suitable for someone who owns numerous websites that swallow lots of resources, but prefers to administer the websites, databases and mailboxes using an intuitive web hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant complete root access and include three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting packages instead of using the hosting server solely for yourself, you should choose one of these two.

Server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated web hosting server and of backing it up. In the event of a predicament with your dedicated web hosting server, like a non-responsive Apache or a network downtime, it is desirable to have some kind of monitoring platform enabled. Here at Transforma Hosting the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated web hosting server too. Backups are also a bonus option - the hosting provider offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would permit you to have the same data on 2 disk drives as a precaution in case of a server hard disk failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted full server root access erases something by accident.
